About this range
What we carry in this range
Browse the disposable packaging range from Byars. Check specifications, add products to a quote request, or reorder on your trade account. Family owned in South Geelong since 1985, delivered on our own fleet across Geelong and regional Victoria.
Packaging is where most venues spend the most, use the most and think about it the least — until a lid doesn't fit or a container leaks through the bottom of a delivery bag. We stock the full range so you can get it right the first time.
What we carry
Hot and cold cups and lids. Containers, clamshells and trays in sugarcane, paper, foil, PLA, PET and plastic. Pizza boxes, sandwich containers, lunch boxes and portion cups. Paper and plastic bags. Greaseproof, deli and butcher's papers. Napkins, cutlery and disposable tabletop. Cake boxes, boards and patisserie packaging.
Choosing between materials
Sugarcane (bagasse) is sturdy, holds heat and oil well, and is commercially compostable. Paperboard suits dry and warm food and takes a print beautifully. PET is clear and rigid — best for cold food where the customer wants to see what they're getting. Foil handles the oven. If you're not sure, ask us: we'll tell you what actually works for your menu rather than what carries the best-sounding label.
Sustainable packaging, honestly
Victoria has banned a range of single-use plastics, and more will follow. We stock certified compostable ranges to AS4736 (commercial) and AS5810 (home), recycled-content options and plastic-free alternatives across cups, containers, bags and cutlery. Where a compostable option isn't practical yet, we'll say so.
Delivered on our own fleet
We hold deep stock in South Geelong and run our own delivery fleet across Geelong, the Bellarine, the Surf Coast, Ballarat, Warrnambool and Melbourne's west. No third-party freight, no waiting on a national warehouse.
Questions for disposable packaging
Open full FAQWhat takeaway packaging do I need for a café?
Most cafés run on four things: hot cups and lids, cold cups and lids, containers or clamshells for food, and paper bags. Add napkins, cutlery and portion cups for sauces. If you do coffee, you'll want cup carriers and sleeves as well. Our team can build you a starting list based on your menu.
What's the difference between compostable, biodegradable and recyclable packaging?
Compostable packaging is designed to break down under specific composting conditions, either at home or in a commercial facility, depending on the product. Biodegradable means a material can break down through biological processes, but it doesn’t tell you how long that will take or under what conditions. Recyclable packaging can be processed through an appropriate recycling service, but what’s accepted depends on your local council or waste provider. Our team can help you choose packaging that suits your business and its waste collection arrangements.
Can Byars supply printed or branded packaging?
Yes. We supply custom-printed cups, bags, containers and boxes. Lead times and minimum quantities depend on the product, so talk to our team early — branded packaging is usually ordered well ahead of a launch.
